Ironically it took my landlord that long to cash my rent cheque

Yesterday was one of my (best) friend's birthday. For 30+ years he has been hammering that he doesn't like nor like to celebrate his birthday. So every year I wished him hbd with a text and then he had this little rant about how that doesn't mean anything to him. So yesterday, for the first time in those 30+ years, I haven't wished him a hbd.

Maybe a card in the mail?

I'd do but it has been a while since they cleaned their balls.

Maybe give him a call instead?

Thank you for the advice tho, appreciate that!

Same thing, probably even worse. Any other day than bday or celebratory days or holidays is a better moment to contact.

I did move abroad tho, and phone calls (or videochat) he has never been fond of. But we do write long intimate emails every (other) month/quarter.

He just hates getting all the nonsense on his bday 😋 I was the bad friend for not listening for 30 years. Not casually wishing him a happy day feels weird. Gonna text him soon, guess we just pick up where we left.

Even that's gonna be too much. Same goes for any other celebratory day, like ny or xmas. He just hates to get all those calls/messages on the same day, we guess. We usually just contact whenever we feel like to connect.
