Home again after Crazy Day of Hell Week. I am comforting myself with the reflection that it's a whole year before the next one. I am enjoying a much deserved glass of wine and some godlike snax (fancy as shit sandwiches from the freezer) as I cbf cooking tonight due to exhaustion. Going to tap out fairly early tonight I think. Have a drink of whatever on me folks to celebrate.

TV Review. Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Series 7 ep.1. Amends. Such a moving performance by Kathryn Erbe as Detective Eames , a woman unwilling to open old wounds regarding the murder of her police officer husband 9 years ago. D'Onofrio is relentless using all his Sherlock Holmes skills to pursue the truth, even when it seems to hurt Eames. A doctor struggles with guilt, trying to atone and bring some kind of karmic justice by helping the poor

Explores how knowing the answers and justice can lead to healing.

Creature Comforts. Amazon. The Story of making All Creatures Great and Small. I put on this 2 decades old documentary hoping for a feel good doco about the making of a tv series I grew up watching in my early teens and loved.

It wasn't. It was more about the real life of the writer of the books, Alf Wight, and how his books revolutionised the treatment of pets.

I personally think the increase in living standards after WWII , giving people more disposable income to spend on pets, was a bigger factor. Pet owners were asking for treatment for all the TrickyWoos out there..

Anyway, it was still a good show. Just wish it had Robert Hardy and Peter Davison interviews.

All my overtime over the past week clocked up to an extra entire day of work πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« Luckily my workplace was super understanding and flexible and have redirected Monday's site visits so I can take ALL of Monday off in lieu to get desperately caught up on a bunch of other things! 😌 I'm gonna sleep well tonight. Once I've finished standing around with my niece at this impossibly slow check in queue... It has been a solid hour... dont fly Scoot you guys.

Sometimes when life is dull I use a product called cough Snaily Lotion to brighten my eyes, especially when I can’t get New Lube (there seem to be worsening supply chain shortages or price hikes of this brand)

You do have to carefully peruse the products as some may have misleading labels or only be sample sizes. Avoid the third party stockists.

But sometimes if you keep checking for stock you might get what you need

Hey look, fire.

Now it's like you've been to the festival! Plus imagine yourself lining up for a $25 pulled pork or beef roll.

Update: I made some space to give cities skylines 2 a go. Oh boy it was a slideshow. I think I was getting around 10fps on low graphics which looked really bad anyway.

Decided to just do a refund for it. I don't think I will have a computer capable of running it until the 2030s. But given how much they were cooling for bad optimisation when it came out, I thought they would've worked on some better optimisation by now

Certainly nice to get away. North Stradbroke Island.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

I've been there. I grew up with a few of the Walker mob, the descendants of Kath Walker the poet. Shame about the sand mining company effectively stealing the island.

Lovely, and I hear it has great diving there.

Had a moment today where a modern life tech thing baffled me (online access type thingy), and I got frustrated (eventually solved it). I’m not that old but I’m not young either. It used to be utterly effortless to keep up with the latest life admin requirements, but am finding that occasionally I now feel out of the loop. Is this the tip of the iceberg? I don’t want it to be. I don’t want to age and become useless at new stuff that comes out. I Do. not. like. It.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

It's the same as it always was, just read the instructions and keep trying. ( am old )

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Not necessarily. Maybe it was just a badly designed website.

Wow the music down at the Firelight festival is louder than any music I've ever heard from any event and that includes NYE celebrations. Usually the music barely registers with me but it's proper loud. Yelling get out of my yard from the balcony has proven unsuccessful. Stupid festival. Might go down there soon just coz though.

Rug up and go!

BTW the lolly shop in Melton (the one in Central walk. Opposite Foodworks nee Franklin's) is closing after tomorrow. She's been there 43 years. Just thought you might like to know.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

NOOOOOOOOO that's my favourite lolly shop! Although she doesn't take card and that has annoyed me.

Also I'm totally going downstairs in shorts and a hoodie.. that's my winter wear. Just vapin it up before I go and be around people.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I know right. Bargains no, nostalgia yes. Sad but she's got a new puppy and she's getting new teeth so all is good! (I swear I didn't ask no questions).
