Edit: I'm pretty sure that I made a mistake here, in that I tried to use my main credentials to sign in and transfer, but I actually bought the lifetime on a different account. The likelihood that I confused myself with my paranoia is likely high.

Just to check are we restoring ad free or ultra?

[โ€“] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Ad free. Was that a one time per device thing? I bought it the day it was released for the Lemmy version.

You can share settings pages?

[โ€“] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Yep just long press on the function and it will be copied to the clipboard as a link.

[โ€“] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Indeed. It's confusing why that didn't work. It's literally the same login I have used for over 20 years.

No idea whether this would work, but have you tried moving app data via adb?

[โ€“] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

I have not tried that. I'm too old and tired to futz around with that kind thing anymore.

I hate to do a direct ping and bother him, but I think this one warrants one for @[email protected]

Everything as written in your title at least sounds like it should have transferred imo

Oh dear lord, I don't think it warrants a ping for him. I am perfectly willing to just buy it again, but it's a bit of a curiousity as to why I can't sync it. I'm a software developer, and given all that I know, just transferring my creds over to a new phone shouldn't break any links. The exact same credentials on different hardware shouldn't matter.

I have multiple accounts on varying services, so it's possible I'm missing something amongst the chaos.

That's very kind of you, but other people who have the same problem also shouldn't have to buy a new lifetime license. I remember him saying it was through your google account and Google play, so from what I understand it should be working

For android specifically it depends on the developers implementation of the specific in app purchase. Some are "consumable" (one time use) and some are permanent (buy once, keep forever. Also should get restored automatically)

Once bought premium for an app that did the consumable iap thing... Haven't touched it since

Just to clarify, we are talking about Sync for Lemmy, not Sync for Reddit, correct?
