I just managed to pull the Ethernet plug before the RAMSOMWARE bits made it through. I should count myself lucky it glows red.

That is why I am a proponent of fibre to the desktop, you can see the bad red bits travel through the cable.

Surely this is just using an image as an analogy?

Like saying the malware is hiding in the code through obfuscation, and only by going through the code base with a fine tooth comb (symbolised by the magnifying glass) could you discover it.

Or not I don’t know.

That's precisely what it is. It's exactly what you want in a stock image. It straightforwardly, simply conveys a concept without really leaving much room for interpretation. This is an image that's intended to be used in some poor IT guys lousy malware powerpoint presentation to a non-IT department, and it's absolutely appropriate for that context.

But the smug "hurr-durr, that's not how binary works" delivers more dopamine.
