Solved - User Error: Upvoting/Downvoting No Longer Works (lemmy.world)

I've been using Sync for Lemmy in conjunction with this Lemmy.world account since it first hit the Play store on Android.

For the last month or so, I can no longer successfully upvote or downvote posts or comments within the app. This seems to have been around the time or shortly after the votes changed colors from orange/blue to blue/red for a general time reference; I'm not suggesting that update broke anything, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Anyone else have this problem?

Solution: I had enabled the setting indicating my account as a bot account. I mistakenly thought this meant I wanted to view bot posts, not that I was indicating my account as a bot account.

Your account is marked as a bot and bots cannot vote.

This can be the result of processing queues filling up. Here's a link that shows how behind certain instances are on federation.. If you mostly notice remote users/posts/communities not receiving your votes, this could very well have something to do with the problem. The latest Lemmy versions have some performance issues and the occasional spam waves (that you hopefully haven't noticed but moderators and admins certainly might have) also doesn't help with processing times.

Check if votes in the web UI work as you expect. If they work (and are reflected in other apps as well), this may be a Sync issue. If they don't, check the support channels on your instance instead, there may be some kind of problem with the server configuration.

Also, and I don't know if this is related, your account shows up as a bot. If you intend to use your account as a bot that doesn't really matter but it may affect instances that don't like bots.

It was the bot setting... Thanks for pointing that out.

I guess I thought toggling that on meant I wanted to view bot posts, not that I was indicating this account as a bot account.

The only time upvotes seem to stick is on my own posts.
