JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I STARTED SMELLING THAT SMELL AND CHECKED AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT UNDER MY BED UGGGHHH
God knows when it got there but a) I only just started smelling That Smell an hour back (and I crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon) and b) I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday because I hauled the old suitcase out from under the other side of the bed to take to the op shop and I didn't spot anything.
But ugggghhhhhh.
One time I finished my black coffee to find bits of cockroach in the bottom of the mug... if that makes you feel any better about sleeping on a rat.
.< Drunk some water in the dark and felt one hit my teeth once. Yergh.
Urggggghhhhh, burn down the whole house and have a decontamination shower.
Still better than a live rat I guess?
Big hugs.

Holy shit, stuff of nightmares!! That's farked.
Least it's gone now, but damn.
Aaaaargh! π±
I hope you're okay?
Many years ago, I lived in Ferntree Gully.
Beautiful suburb, lots of birds and other wildlife. Very peaceful.
But one night, I was fast asleep, when I was awakened by a rustling and scratching sound in the wardrobe.
I turned the light on, opened the wardrobe door.
AND OUT RUNS A MOUSE!!!
I jumped up on the bed and SCREAMED!
The mouse ran straight out the door as fast as it could.
I'm not sure who was more frightened β me or the mouse!
Anyway, next day I went to Bunnings and got a caulking gun and sealed up the spot where I *think* it got in.
Big cleanup in the kitchen and the back yard too.
That was the last I saw of it.
I hope youβre okay?
Just stopped shaking... I had to deal with one just before Christmas, though, so maybe that took the edge off?
What worries me is when it got in and how long it'd been there - as I said, I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday and I only just started smelling That Smell, on the other hand it was stuck to the carpet and matted underneath, so... uggh.
Problem is, the foundations have sagged so there's a lot of places it could have got in (part of the reason I've sold the house). I just hope that's the last one I have to deal with before settlement day. >.<
omg, wtf
rats are the worst
so many hugs
eat a million butter menthols
Luckily I had some peppermint oil on hand, so that's been sprinkled around.
I just hope the smell hasn't got into the mattress or the bed. Ugggh.
5 loads of washing done, blankets and pillows cleaned, 2 loads dishes, continuing getting tapestry fabric ready to make new chair covers, next have to clean up after cats , then I'm done π€
I don't want to sound dramatic, but I'm a man, and I have a cold. Now, we all know that means I'm dying a slow, painful death.
No one has ever felt this bad in the history of humanity lol
Woe is me π€§
Also this is Gibson's Imgur thingy https://imgur.com/gallery/AtAIjpO
stop it, it's scientifically proven that men actually do suffer more than women when they have respiratory illnesses, they feel worse and get physically sicker .
Take care. Rest. Have some meds and some lemon honey tea.
hugs
Weekend highlight: Finding a Philippino take away/burger place that does an ube (purple yam) flavoured dessert.
Incredibly sweet, but delicious.
Interesting. There's a place on Lygon street that does similar. Beku Gelati. I should try a different flavour every week.
I put out a dozen empty clean maccona jars in the courtyard for any neighbour who might want them. Gone in 5 minutes.
@Seagoon_ @melbourne Ugh. It's Monday tomorrow. Why do weekends have to be so short? π
There's a huge workload to get through, and I'm stressing about it already.
On the upside, I'm taking Thursday and Friday off.
And there's a concert that wifey and I are going to on Tuesday night π
I gave her the tickets for Valentine's Day. I haven't been to a concert since the pandemic.
Also, I have a song by HER stuck in my head: https://youtu.be/_iKxR-daLCo?si=X7mcQHhCZHoN2UWn
you don't have to @ my name or melbourne for comments.
hugs
Eeep!
I've been posting from Mastodon to Aussie Zone, rather than directly on the site, which is why the extra @ are there. (Hopefully it still all works without them!)
oh, then don't worry :) we're happy to have you here anyway you can :)
The Peelers and I are going to Lucha Fantastica, the Mexican wrestling show, next weekend. Should be a blast! The drama! The costumes!
Went there in the before-times and it was fantastic! Youre gonna have so much fun!
I was just reading that the cost of a passport is going up about $50 on 1 July, so anyone planning on getting a passport soon would be advised to do it before then.
I'm going to apply for a passport once I turn 18 in March of next year
$400 fucking hell π«
Are you for fucking real? The cost was already obscene.
Second most expensive passport in the world apparently.
