Finally got to watch Chinese gp, had to avoid spoilers for 2 days which is difficult but worth it. What an exciting race I loved every second of it Lando and Nando had me pumped and it pains me to see Stroll deciding to contribute to Danny ric ruining his career he was having a damn good weekend up to that point.

Not sure what the race director was waiting for after Bottas' retirement, was an obvious safety car/VSC as some as you knew it was an engine failure.

The footage of Bottas getting out of the car while the race was only yellow flagged looked very ominous.

I thought the race was pretty good, and as a whole this race weekend was very entertaining. Sprint Qualifying was excellent, the sprint had good action (including 4 cars going into the same corner) and the race wasn't bad. Shame the safety cars dictated (and to some extent ruined) the strategy, but we still got some good battles, some nice overtakes and a bit of chaos.

It's really been too long since we were here, Shanghai is a pretty fun track.

I agree with you. The race was actually fun to watch. The safety cars brought back the advantages some had and allowed for more strategies. The sprint wasn't too bad either but it had the same issue. Max's pace was revealed on the sprint itself so the race winner was obvious. Didn't spoil the race though.

Kind of a meta comment, but maybe we can merge race and post race posts? I feel like having two posts doesn't really have any benefits while having the downside of splitting discussions about the same thing.

Maybe there isn't enough activity to sustain splitting the posts right now, but I personally prefer them split. The Race thread is really meant for live discussions while the race is ongoing, and I like the post-race analysis type comments being neatly separated into another post.

I agree, also would like to add that the post race thread stays featured on top longer so people that watch the race later can still give opinions of the race here.

Lando with the 3rd place hat on in the cool down room made me laugh.

Didn't catch that. He drove a good race and McLaren got their strategy right.

Quite like the trophy they gave out to the podium finishers. It's unique.
