I really like this blog post and always read it.

But am always sad, that he didn't actually include examples yet.

This has been happening for centuries though. Cao Cao mandated that first and last names needed to be at least 3 characters in all government forms. This move upset Lu Bu, which decided that war was the only way to settle the issue.
