This is such a good idea in theory but I don't want my passwords locked to one platform. This goes for practically all password managers. If I want to enter that password in Chrome on Windows, I don't want to painstakingly copy a 16 digit password made from random characters from my iphone's keychain.

Yeah I don't want to enter long passwords either. But I don't really like external password manager like 1password, lastpass and bitwarden. So I stay with my ios password manager. It works pretty fine. I do save my passwords in my desktop browser for easier use.
Absolutely. Things have improved over the years, there is an official chrome extension for keychain that works on windows (although I’ve never used it so can’t comment on how well it works) it’s also possible to export your keychain database (although only using a Mac). The worst thing about keychain now is that, on iOS, it’s only accessible through settings which makes accessing 2FA codes a pain. I think keychain should be it’s own app.
Which password manager do you use? I am open to trying an alternative but having all my passwords in one place is really scary so I struggle to trust a third party.
I’ve found 1Password to be head and shoulders above the other alternatives. I’ve been with them for over 12 years, never been let down.
