I think tracker sites are still the best choice. I use Telegram for other mini apps though.

Unless you have a specific reason to use Telegram, I'd avoid it.
How come, it's not different to Discord.
It not being different to Discord is half the problem.
What's the problem.
- I think telegram is more secure than discord. Could be wrong.
- I wouldn't get torrents off discord either.
I know Telegram is bad for personal messaging in terms of Security compared to Signal. But, for Piracy stuffs, communities and channels. Telegram is quite good.
For torrents and for anything else
Can use the Telegram to download ~~torrents~~ media (videos, movies, music), why not?
Why not? Because it's probably slower, it's yet another propietary service you have to rely on, and it defeats the purpose of using a torrent to start with.
It's not a torrent but an alternative to download piracy content, as you could go to another web service like Lemmy or Youtube. Many webs have their code private also. On Telegram, at least the frontend is open source.
Ah, my bad. I thought that OP meant a bot to convert torrents to DDL.
Well if you refer to the torrent to DDL then you are right that there are other better ways. But as he said channels also, I know it's easy to find movies and series searching on channels, so I thought he meant that.
yeah, youre probably right
what do you mean ? bots like this ? https://github.com/anasty17/mirror-leech-telegram-bot
keep in mind these don't seed the torrents... they only leech.
more links here.
Actually if you read the description, this bot does seed, you manually set the ratio at which it stops.
ah yeah, you're right! I didn't see that.
Clicking through, I don't get it. What content are they offering?
And what's a leeching group? If they don't see(d!) what's the point?
a leeching group is a telegram group in which there are bots which download the torrents you give them links to (usually to gdrive or other cloud storage) these download the torrents faster (since they run on servers) but as the name suggests, do not seed the torrents. and all the torrents you make the bot download are available publicly for everyone in the group. leeching groups were very popular during lockdown, I haven't checked them out for a while though.
the github I linked is such a bot, it can be self hosted and used for downloading torrents (i.e. making your own leeching group)
