Bernie don't take no shit
Political Videos
Overview:
The place to post political videos
I wanted to look into this, but I don't like BTC.
May I ask why?
Bryan Tyler Cohen is trying to split the difference between real independent media, and typical safe space access type journalism. It's a kind of journalistic slight of hand many online media groups do, trying to paint themselves as outsiders, but unwillingness to do the hard part of journalism, which is talking truth to power, and asking hard questions which might cost you access later. They also engage in a kind of "appearance politics", which is a kind of cultural hedgemenony over how to be "taken seriously" as a media type. It's a kind of cultural gatekeeping through what amounts nts to academic elemitism, which as an academic I have extreme disdain for, and I see it as very central to why it's been so difficult to build the progressive movement.
To be clear, with where BTC is at, my criticisms are way over the top. They aren't any where close to what I'm describing, but they are definitely on the road towards it. And I see what they are doing, with the slight if hand. I get what they are trying to accomplish and it gets viewers. Or at least, it keeps viewers who were looking for a more radical view from going further and finding it.
Because it requires a huge amount of resources to sustain, and isn't accessible to anyone except the privileged
You can buy one cent of it if you want as it's divisible, but you're right about the energy usage being completely ridiculous when it doesn't need to be (could accomplish the same thing with a single old computer).
Talk about poor interviewing. Kept cutting him off, Bernie I'm sure used to it but if you want someone to answer your questions, let them answer it how they want, not how you want to frame it.
