The plastic tray of water I put out for wildlife keeps drying up and blowing away. I don't have a rock to weight it and don't want to put anything non-disposable out because it will be stolen. I'll look for the crappy plastic pet water dispenser because it's apparently going to be a hot weekend.

I've loaded some Coles bags up with 9 tins of the wet food Melbcat doesn't like for the food pantry, plus 2 dented cans of the one she does. It feels like wasting food but if she won't eat it maybe some other cat with a struggling owner can. Also gifted hygiene/toiletries that have sat there unopened because I don't use them.

Cat owners are going to be so grateful. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

It's cheap food but AAFCO compliant so it's fairly good

So I decided to do more work at home this evening to lighten what I have to do tomorrow, for the first time I’ve been allowed to work from home.

I could endure another hour or so tonight and then I’ll have nothing at all to do tomorrow and can just relax or do I just save the work for tomorrow?

Hmmm decisions decisions.

Stopping now. Actually feeling exhausted and getting a headache.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Sounds like you need a neck rub and a cool drink

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I did the cool drink but no one to give me a neck rub :(

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I'm sending magic neck rub over the internets

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

Aww thank you.

I’ve heated up a wheat pack and got it around my neck so hopefully that’ll be enough.

Made myself a cup a soup too. All my sinuses are blocked, hope I’m not coming down with something.

Booked a last minute trip to Hobart as it didn’t feel like I was making the most of my leave unless I got away for a bit of it. Got here today and went to the summit of Mt Wellington. So so beautiful. The city is great too from what I’ve seen, feels like a country town in Victoria. MONA planned for tomorrow.

Behold a precariously positioned beach toasty.

Only one lady on the beach walking her doggo tonight which came up to say hello. But the toasty was long gone all it could do was smell its shadow and look disappointed (the doggo not the lady).

I'm guessing it'll be packed over the w/e but nothing compared to the other side of the bay.

Putting the sand in sandwich!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Looks amazing. How do you make a toastie at the beach? Do you make at home and take it there or is there a magical portable toastie maker I am unaware of?

This is not a great game of footy

Just saw the forecast. Talk about last gasp of summer!!!!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

I had plans on Saturday but now it's gonna be 3 days of air conditioning instead.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Just saw it myself too, holy hell they bumped up the temps on Sun and Mon. I'm meant to be going out to Ballarat on Sunday on the v/line, hope the tracks don't melt or whatever bs often happens on a string of hot days.

I wonder if this is the hottest streak we've had since 2019/2020

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Expect cancellations and a very slow trip.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

Just looked too. Eeek. Good weekend to wash blankets, pillows and cushions too if you are so minded. Definitely an early shop on Saturday tho, then some heavy duty hibernation.

Melbcat is going so much better today.

Cat ramblesShe was already improving last night and the crying had stopped. But a day after stopping the antibiotic and starting stronger pain relief + ear drops there's no crying, she's calm, and her appetite is coming back.

She doesn't like the ear drops and generously tries to share them with me by shaking her head. But it's much less traumatic than force feeding her the antibiotics and I know I'm giving her the right care.

The sample the bacteria was identified from was taken right before she got a shot of powerful long acting antibiotics two weeks ago so I'm hoping the uti might have been gone before starting and having to stop the allergenic ones... I'll still be watching carefully because resistance is no joke.

My house is an absolute tip because I decluttered some areas but ran out of energy to keep tidying. I did collect a bunch of stuff that can go though. Might sort it into leftover Coles bags so I can just ask someone to drop them off at the op shop/food pantry

hugs for you and melbcat

8/10 not too bad

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

8/10. Lucky guesses!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

7/10 too - we need to up our numbat game to support Nellie. I admit that I had to guess the scientific name (but got it right for all the wrong reasons).

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I thought today was Wednesday. 😩

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Slight headache and drowsiness. But got a few loads of washing done, as well as the dishes. Overall a relatively productive day.

Pasta bake for dinner, which is just leftover pasta in a dish with cheese on top... Which was made from the roast pork and veggies mein liebe made. Not a single scrap wasted in this house.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I made banana bread today because I didn't want to throw out the dead bananas so the man bought more 😑

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Yeah I normally do that.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

So how did I end my mundane work day?

By catching a trapped bird in the building and letting it fly out the window.

I think I’ve had enough excitement for one day.

πŸ’€

Also bring on the Footy!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

A kind act for that bird, you should feel very happy about that! Kindness towards animals is what makes you a good human πŸ’œ

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

I keep having nightmares πŸ₯± Must be overtired or getting too hot during the night. Definitely been letting myself get too dry
