I'm remaking the ghost minigame from Nintendo Land. (Nothing is public just yet.)

I've called it "Ghost Game" during early development because it's simple and I like the alliteration, but there's already two games on Steam with very similar names.

I'm currently considering these names:

  • Ghost Game (just use it even though other games have similar names)
  • Ghost Mansion
  • Spectre Mansion
  • Haunting Hijinks

I'd love to hear feedback on these names and get ideas for other names I should consider. Thanks!

I think Haunting Hijinks is a fun name and reminds me of shows like Scoopy Doo

A couple of suggestions:

  • Hide and shriek
  • Phantom Palace

Maybe you can include the activity/kind of activity/what is happening in the name?

Ghost is well known. [As a non-native speaker] Spectre is not.

No idea what Hijinks is.

Ghost Mansion sounds like a Mario game level.

I think Haunted Mansion could be good. But surely games with that name already exist. So I would try to make it more unique. Including the activity, or personalizing it (using a character or something) could make that possible.

I think Haunted Mansion could be good.

"Haunted Mansion" is a Disney property; both a theme park ride and two films. You don't want The Mouse™ coming down on you for making a game with a similar name. Knowing them, they probably already have some crappy mobile games based on the latest film, using that exact name.

"Hijinks" makes me think of exactly the kind of casual mess-with-your-friends gameplay that can happen with Nintendo games. I like it.

As a side note, I'm curious to see how the game turns out. Nintendo Land was the only game I've played on the Wii U that made proper use of the game pad, and the ghost mansion was my favorite minigame.

Since you might want to know, Haunting Hijinx launches in two weeks! It's free and open-source.

Yay! It looks awesome! I'm going to get my friend to play it with me as soon as it goes live

@[email protected] my vote goes for Hijinks too! Makes me think of "Heebee-jeebees" 👍

I'm not very creative with names but lmk when you have something public. This minigame was so much fun!
