@frankPodmore this is due to many constabularies downsizing Roads Policing Unit and combining it with Firearms Unit - they lose a portion of expensively trained officers each year who quit the job as its "too woke" (i.e. not enough action and held more accountable these days) - the remaining cops are tied up dealing with OCGs (organised crime groups) whilst the scally who has 5 pints and a couple of cheeky lines before driving home often gets away with it, until one day he ends up in a crash..

MODERATORS
A better solution is to design infrastructure so it is not physically possible to drive onto a rail line, i.e. so the car could not enter the roundabout so fast that they would launch over it and land on the train tracks.
We have been relying on cops for road safety for over a century and it does not work. The answer is not cops. Then there's the issue of cops constantly speeding, killing people in high-speed chases, systemic racism at traffic stops, etc.
