Dude should be immediately removed from his position. The country and its government should not be religious at all.
Exactly, and that's a key of the Constitution. See Article six:
no religious Test shall ever be Required as a Qualification To any Office or public Trust under the United States
And the first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
The supreme law of the land says there's no state religion, religion cannot be required for any official capacity in the government, and the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment guarantees the right to religion or no religion to all. States cannot be "religious states" as that's a violation of the Constitution.
This governor must have basic reading comprehension skills if they ever read the Constitution, and reading and understanding the Constitution should, imo, be mandatory for all elected officials.
We should bring back pillories for people like this.
