It's still just a Lego sandbox, but there are monsters and "progression." I always ignore it. It doesn't add much to the Lego sandbox for me. I only progress far enough to get the glider wings because that's actually a fun mechanic. The balance and everything is kinda wack anyway. The Wither boss is ridiculous and I'm a Fromsoft fanboy.
