I don't recall paying for the Sync lemmy app. Is there a way to have this without paying? Or did I pay for it and don't remember?

The free version has ads, which is what I use and probably you too.

Dns66 is an open source app run by the famous chaos computer club (ccc) that does ad filtering via VPN. If you install it on your phone, it will filter out ads from any app.

You can find it in fdroid.
