This is not opinion or leftist. It’s news about fighting in the party, which is factual, recent, and on-topic.

Removal of this post is admitting that this sub is only about being a safe space for conservatives to circle-jerk while ignoring reality.

I encourage a discussion about the recent conflicts inside the party, how that might impact the party moving forward, and what can be done to prevent this divide.

We may be heading towards another civil war. While people like to think slavery was the only cause of the war, it was more complicated than that. We have many different cultures and sometimes those cultures collide. I am a small government Republican, which means I support abortion as the government should stay out of an adult's medical care. I am not religious, and I'm not too fond of the mixing of abortion and religion. While I respect religions and do attend mass on occasion, I do not want your sky God dictating what I can do with my body.

The problem is both parties are spewing things that don't really solve anything.

I mean this with no insult. You’re in the wrong party if you want any of those things. And I’m curious, what DO you like about the Republican Party today, and don’t say taxes.

No I’m in the right party. I’m not a rabid racist like the democrats. I’m against large government. I’m against wages theft through taxation.

You know that slavery, kkk we’re all democrat things and still are?

There is nothing positive in me about the democrats.

According to whom? Both of these things have always been far right ideologies. Are you forgetting the two main parties switched in name a century ago?

So what policies changed? Name 3 politicians that swapped sides.

You want to know why you can't? Because it was a pr campaign. Thats it.

The switch happened over several decades. The goal posts you manufactured don't make sense.

Why were many of the democrats that voted against the civil rights acts still representing the house and Senate in the 80's and 90's?

Why did renouned member of the KKK Robert Byrd serve until his death in 2010?

Why was segregationist Joe Biden chosen as as a democrat nominee for the presidential election?

When ever you claim the parties switched you'll find racists democrats still representing the party.

Because the switch wasn't instantaneous, nor affiliation/group based. Individuals themselves changed their thoughts and party affiliation, not just party affiliation.

When ever you claim the parties switched you’ll find racists democrats still representing the party.

The KKK literally, currently supports GOP candidates. Trump was caught doing housing segregation. The GOP regularly gerrymanders to reduce the power of black voters. The GOP regularly shuts down voting places in black neighborhoods to keep voting lines long. White nationalists are waving the flag of Trump.

The democratic party is a shit show. But the GOP is a god damn dumpster fire. Our political system regularly elects racist old men, on both sides. What did you expect?

At least on my side of the line there ain't white nationalists. That's plenty for me.

PRRI also asked respondents whether they believed that, “It always makes the country better when all Americans speak up and protest unfair treatment by government.” Then, it asked the same question, but substituted “Black Americans” for “all Americans.” Democrats made no distinction between the two questions: 71 percent answered Yes to both. Among Republicans, however, 49 percent believed it made the country better when all Americans spoke up and protested unfair governmental treatment, but just 24 percent believed it when Black Americans spoke up and protested. Among Republicans whose most trusted news source is Fox News, the gap was 47 percent Yes for all Americans, and a bare 10 percent for Blacks.

But somehow democrats are the ones that are racist.

The article your citing misquoted the study. Here was the actual question asked. It's not the smoking gun you think it is.

When Americans speak up and protest unfair treatment by the government, it always makes our country better.

When Black Americans speak up and protest unfair treatment by the government, it always makes our country better.

The always part is the word that changes the question. The BLM riots did not make our country better.

Thank you for proving my point.
