Why does Lemmy.ml, which apparently thinks of itself as leftist, support Russia's imperialist invasion of Ukraine? (feddit.uk)

I've seen comments across Lemmy from people registered to Lemmy.ml, who defend Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

I think Lemmy.ml is meant to be leftist (I assume the "ML" is short for Marxist-Leninist). How can any leftist support Russia's imperialist invasion of Ukraine? Also modern Russia has similarities with fascist states.

Looks like a way to paint your beliefs as the good ones, and if you have to enforce them on everyone else for their own good, so be it.
