oral phenylephrine:

"three large, carefully designed studies were conducted—two by Merck for the treatment of seasonal allergies and one by Johnson & Johnson for the treatment of the common cold. All three found no significant difference between phenylephrine and a placebo."

I thought they switched to hijacking railroad tank cars, after seeing the show. You need a ridiculous amount of tablets (or cough syrup or whatever) to make drugs, and the druggies have supposedly switched to more industrial-scale methods by now.
