the dems would be more successful if they tried to move more to the right than they already are. [...] Plus, if you convince some republicans to vote democrat it's like you're getting two votes (you get one vote, and republicans lose one).

But this is exactly the logic that the Democrats have operated under since 2020, and now that strategy just lost them the election. You can't out-right the right. Even their win in 2020 was more blind luck that Trump happened to be president when Covid hit, since Biden only ran on "vote for me cause i'm not Trump". And any US administration would have mismanaged that just as horribly since they all serve the same class interests. There is no conceivable scenario in which a US president would put people's lives ahead of corporate profits.
