The first time I had a conversation about something and then started getting ads for that thing on my phone was the first time I went "ok nope not ok with that not ok with that at all" with regards to privacy and I've only gotten more and more pissed off since.

Haven't watched this video, but it was debunked million times that it's not possible with current technology.

OP experienced confirmation bias, a common illusion of the human brain. Google scan emails, a lot of ways they could new about this, not via the microphone.
