The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that traces of harmful bacteria have been found in several varieties of pet food.

The recall affects pet food from two well-known brands: Answers Pet Food and Darwin’s Natural Pet Products. All of the affected products are raw dog food varieties. Food from both brands was found to be contaminated with salmonella and listeria, two types of bacteria that can cause illness in pets and their owners.

Currently, no illnesses have been confirmed in relation to these recalled products, according to the FDA.

We get Taste of the Wild. It's a bit more expensive, but it doesn't tend to have these issues because they have good quality control. When we tell the vet that's what we're still feeding the dogs, they always say that's a good choice.

I used to feed my dog Taste of the Wild, but they are grain-free and recent research shows that this is not healthy for dogs. I switched to Purina Pro Plan, which is, of course, even more expensive.

Tagging along to say the same. We were doing grain-free until our vet told us it can lead to enlarged hearts. Be careful out there, ten years ago grain-free WAS our vet's recommendation.
