On Tuesday, Energy Fuels Resources, the company that owns a uranium mine near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, began hauling ore to a mill in southern Utah.

In a statement, the company said the shipments are safe, have low levels of radiation and have been permitted by state and federal regulators.

But the transport route includes a large swath of the Navajo Nation, which opposes the mine and has outlawed uranium hauling through its lands.

Navajo President Buu Nygren quickly sent out Navajo police in an effort to turn the trucks back, but the shipments eventually passed through the reservation on highways regulated by state agencies.

The president has vowed to stop any future uranium hauling and spoke with KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius about the tribe’s response.

This doesn't belong in this comm and you would know this if you were familiar with the history of uranium contamination of reservations and you are beyond naive if you trust the word of a corporation especially under the pervue of the laughably toothless US regulatory environment.

No investigation no right to speak you are on stolen land.

This comm has a weird name, but it seams to be about the mod sharing posts he finds interesting instead of making fun of them

This is from the comm info

Do you think I'm for this clear exploitation and abuse of native lands? Is it wrong for a non native to share the words of the Navajo president on the issue which he is trying to stop?

This belongs in my comm because I put it here shit head

Your comm is called "brainworms" so people will constantly think things posted here are meant to be mocked. If you're gonna get this mad at people for making that mistake then you're going to have a bad time.

Been around for a full year before anyone decided to be this big an ass hole. Maybe they should read the side bar and keep there opinions to themselves before they start throwing accusations.

Ive had many from hexbear here, who understand what's going and are able to contribute to the conversation.

I'm keeping the comment up because it has good info, even if its ill directed

None of the other posts look as bad next to the name brainworms (brainworms) as this did. I'm just saying its an honest mistake and it'll probably happen again.

I apologize for the friendly fire. I am currently doing volunteer work on a reservation so I was a little heated, and you're right I should've checked the sidebar. But also considering my impressions of lemm.ee users on average (no offense) and the comm name I feel like it wasn't entirely my fault.

We all make mistakes and we grow. It's no big deal because it's coming from the right place.

I am the one true leftist of Lemm.ee. Gaze upon my pile and dispare
