I'm shocked that Notaro will be a series regular, and even more shocked that Wiseman will not.
Contract thing? Is it because Notaro was only a guest star on Discovery do the five year renegotiation rule doesn't apply?
Notaro likely didn't have a contract at all for Discovery, but I doubt that would have affected anything. I don't get the impression that Wiseman would be overly expensive, either - Notaro is still the bigger star.
Maybe Wiseman just didn't want to commit to a full season or something.
@ValueSubtracted
I just got way more interested in the show. Notaro and Picardo are fantastic. Whatever they do, it'll be worth it to see those two.
Agreed, they are two of my favorite trek characters.
Same. I just commented on the other Academy post about Notaro being a regular and said "Sold!"
I always thought Academy was going to be a vehicle for Wiseman since they seemingly did a stealth pilot in DIS and wrote Tilly out for most of the season. So yeah, it's really surprising she's only going to be a guest. Maybe it'll be like when Michelle Yeoh was a guest but was almost a regular.
Yeah, without any evidence whatsoever it feels to me like some kind of plan was changed midstream.
