With all the love in the world, from one engineer to another;
Fix the docs!
I went looking for an explanation of what RetroDECK is, found this: https://retrodeck.readthedocs.io/en/latest/wiki_about/what-is-retrodeck/
And I kind of know how it works, but not what it does. (At least without clicking through to the ES-DE page)
Give people an elevator pitch as to why they want to download and use this software.
“RetroDECK brings the powerful emulation capabilities of ES-DE to the SteamDeck in one easy to install, easy to use package. Play your , and many more from your couch or on your TV with any controller you like!”
Something something ChatGPT can sex that up a little.
I stl don't understand how this is better/different than EmuDeck, a project I heard much more about.
My understanding is Retrodeck is a cleaner install, being self contained as a flatpack… and that is.
Emudeck works with standalone emulators that are just hooked into EmulationStation. That means more frequent updates. Also, Emudeck supposedly had better performance due to this, but take that with a grain of salt.
I haven’t used EmuDeck since they’ve apparently revamped the installation process, but I think RetroDeck is (or at least was) a much cleaner installation since it’s just a flatpak. I’ve got it installed on my deck and it works fine. Not really using it atm
Sure, docs should be up to date and showing the right information, but it's more important that the pitch is on the website, where it is: https://retrodeck.net/
That’s a good reply, but even the pitch there doesn’t tell me anything about the class of consoles we’re taking about.
And so, in the end, what is RetroDECK?
I am RetroDECK!
