Marx only mentions the guillotine a handful of times, none of which seem to be particularly supportive of the idea.

The guillotine is a metaphor obviously.

It represents the guns the proletariat should use.

Also you left out the end of the quote. It's "smh". Otherwise its just a statement of fact.
