And Mexico?? Like, yeah, there are places here I wouldn't visit just like there are places in the US I wouldn't go near. But any tourist area is safer than the average US city. What the hell.

I don't think this is intended to be consumed as a map, exercise caution would be different for all of these countries, like in France I'd need to watch out for thieves and scams while in Brazil is lost bullets.

Right, and I get that. But compared to all you've said and what I've heard of other countries in this category, we don't run those risks--especially for foreigners. I've been here, living and traveling for quite enough time to know how things are and I can safely say that the warning isn't quite accurate. I've heard more gun shots in US streets than I've ever heard down here in roughly the same length of time.

So unless I can find a source that explains this, I wouldn't trust this map too much.
