Why is using disposable pens still common practice? (lemmy.today)

Why not buy one decent pen "shell" and then just buy the plastic tube with the tip and the ink afterwards?

I know many companies use pens for marketing but still, they could apply this too and also stand up for the environment while still do marketing.

              Nicer pens/refills aren't cheap
Few people actually handwrite anything enough these days to warrant the expense
Most people actually don't care about them. Refillable pens, especially nicer ones, have become an extremely niche market
