Controversial take, but probably make sense since I majored in classical performance. I get teased all the time, I don't listen to lyrics basically at all, often don't even listen to the words until a 3rd or 4th listen. Zero in on the bass / harmony, then percussion, and then maybe the words.

Agreed. My wife is always like “wtf are you listening to” because she listens to the words. I can basically sing along to an entire song and have absolutely no clue what it’s about. I generally pay less than zero attention to the words. It’s all about the music to me.
