You are objectively wrong. Converted to 2022 dollars:

Cost of a home 1972: $189,500 2022: $440,300

1971-72: $10,000 for a public four-year college 2021-22: $24,600 for a public four-year college

Cost of a new car 1972: $26,100 2022: $48,200

Etc.
