Don't think about elephants?
There's a famous demonstration of how the mind works that instructs: "Don't picture a pink elephant!" The hitch is, what's the first thing your brain has to do in order to follow directions? Picture a pink elephant!
I think the other commenter's point is that if you ask people to ignore something, that guarantees that we will notice/focus on it.
Ahhh, okay thank you, I think somewhere along the way I've heard that before, but my brain absolutely did not make the connection lol.
I'm not really bothered by people noticing/paying attention to it, I just worry about making folks uncomfortable. Fortunately no one seems to care
