Unironically the first I'm hearing about Yoon Suk Yeol issuing the first Martial Law in 40 years and attempting to halt all National Assembly (Korean Senate/Parliament) activities. Protests led to the unanimous 190-0 vote against the action, which was at first ignored, and Yoon's surrender and dismissal of the order soon after.

I've been reading about the situation on Wikipedia, and I found this fascinating:

the National Assembly, including members of the president's People Power Party, unanimously passed a motion to lift martial law 190–0 despite attempts by security forces to prevent the vote. However, the military did not listen to the order and stated Yoon himself had to lift the martial law.

I would love to hear someone with knowledge of Korean conditional law answer whether or not the military had any real grounds to make that claim.

I found this much more fascinating:

Following the announcements, the military entered the National Assembly building and attempted to enter the main hall, where voting takes place. In response, party officials sprayed them with fire extinguishers and successfully stopped their entry. Some soldiers attempted to enter through the fourth floor, but were stopped by employees.[28]

Sounds like officers ordered it and soldiers didn't really want to follow it

That is exceedingly good. Hope they're all doing well and being given a hero's welcome next day at the office.
