Potion of heart failure

Be careful with your caffeine.

One espresso has ~60mg of caffeine, which means a Fistbumping Lesbian has 7 * 60mg = 420mg. This means it's 20mg over the FDA's determination of what's safe for adults, so in the range of the lemonades from the article linked above. Don't drink more than one of these per day.

As someone who suffered from severe chronic insomnia for 14 years, there were times I'd drink 5-6 rockstars (800-960mg) to make it through my 12 hour shifts. No one should ever do this, obviously, but when you haven't slept in days you do what you must.

Now have you ever had instant coffee with mate using an energy drink instead of water? Because that has a similar effect on people I know.

Can't really tell you how much there was of each ingredient sadly.

No, and it doesn't sound tasty. If it's a 250ml mug (roughly a US cup; exactly AU/NZ cup) though, its caffeine content should be lower: 80mg from the energy drink, 40mg from the mate, 100mg from the coffee = 220mg caffeine.

my favorite brand of energy drink has 300mg caffeine per can.

i work overnight and i sometimes need to keep my adenosine receptors clear to stay alert through my whole shift.

when i do drink them, i almost never drink more than one can.

but there are some nights that are especially rough, and I'll actually drink two.

those are the nights where i could really use a lesbian fistbump x_x

Bang? It's my favorite. Sour heads. I drink one every day.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

There are a lot of them that have 300 mg.

Close! I used to like Bang a lot, but some of Bang's flavors gave me the ick REAL bad, like Miami Cola (if they still even make it) Literally made me gag. Also, I heard the dude in charge of Bang was kind of a chud and I was looking to not give him money anymore...

I came to love just about all of Reign's flavors much more.

I also really enjoy Celsius, even though it has less caffeine per can, because somehow it keeps me even more alert with a much smoother effect curve and none of its flavors are nasty either. Bang had this one flavor

I like reign. I thought it was 200mg instead of 300? Also it is less liquid. So I stay with Bang.

I get two 16 packs every month online now It's much cheaper.

My understanding was that espresso had less caffeine than a long coffee.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago

A mug of drip coffee has about twice as much caffeine as an espresso (depending on your beans, extraction, and how big your mug is). So this is still like drinking three and a half mugs of drip coffee at once

Seven shots of vodka or what?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

I mean, that's how I'd do it.

[–] [email protected] 53 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

I'm guessing espresso. I think, that's a thing that coffee people call a "shot" when they add an espresso to their drink...

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago

Oh I thought seven shots of caramel. That sounded disgusting

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh okay so they will just have a bit of hyperactivity then :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 hours ago

That depends. Caffeine can be lethal above a certain amount, and that amount of espresso is pretty close to that amount. So I imagine it would be a bit less pleasant than "a bit of hyperactivity," especially if they're not used to having that much caffeine.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago

It's definitely this. Most coffee shop coffee is espresso with or without other stuff added in, like steamed milk if it's a latte. A shot of espresso is essentially one cup of it (as in an espresso cup, not the kind of cup you'd measure flour in when baking). It actually is a similar volume to a shot of vodka though
