Today sees the launch of the new VR MMORPG Freeland for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro and SteamVR. The free-to-play multiplayer adventure will initially launch in Early Access and aims to be one of the largest open-world VR adventures. In Freeland, you explore a vast online galaxy threatened by the villainous Ventax. You must forge alliances, fight battles, and uncover secrets to save Freeland. The game features open world exploration, dynamic combat, social interaction, dungeons and PvP combat. You can race cars on tracks, complete quests such as wingsuit flights between skyscrapers, customize your avatar and explore four planets. Additional worlds will be unlocked over time.

Since it's free I will probably check it out. The style seems to be all over the place though, with little care for any kind of world consistency. Seems like a popular design choice with metaverse stuff, but that is usually because of user generated content, not just the developer throwing a bucket of paint on the wall.

Also that trailer is fucking awful lmao. Oh well, let's see if the game is any better than it. The concept of a vr mmo is admittedly alluring, I prefer a bit of gameplay direction rather than the total openness of vrchat etc. A world to get immersed into.

Was excited to try it but OOF. it was a free game and i still wanted my money back. Controls were super wonky, for the sword I had to contort my wrist into horrible positions to get it to be not pointed towards myself, walked out and got immediately killed by something invisible. I had some low expectations for it but it somehow failed to meet even those.

That "weekend" trailer has unintended dystopian undertones...
