We really need to push IPFS and TOR/I2P to keep these websites alive. Fuck the low barrier to entry if it means the website can just be subpoenaed

You downloaded the least seeded torrent and you're seeding it now, right?

Every month or so i grab another TB of seed data. Been doing it for about a year. I got you.

Doesn't Anna's Archive mirror libgen amongst other things?

[–] [email protected] 34 points 3 months ago

Yes.

Seed the fucking torrents. https://annas-archive.se/torrents Enter how many TBs you have spare, and it will tell you which torrents to download. This way, we can all back up Anna's Archive together so the data won't disappear.

Apparently the issues are mostly with the outgoing download links from libgen.rs and .st (passing through libgen.lol), including the IPFS links which were being problematic in the past few months already.

Instead I just tried something from libgen.gs which is the one for comicbooks, and it's downloading fine from the direct link.

Thankfully most if not all content should be backed up on Annas-archive!

Their contributions will be celebrated in the coming centuries.

A fucking tragedy if it goes down.

Out of curiousity, I visited one of the sites just now and was able to download a random book from one of the links provided. That said, the first set of links for the book didn't work.

End of an era. Goodbye libgen, you single-handedly provided me my course textbooks for free, saving me over $10k CAD in textbook costs over two degrees.

Without libgen I would not have afforded my education.

I wish I'd thought to do this.
