Share your shave of the day!

If you're playing asking with the lather games on the other website, today's theme is:

Christmas in July, but in June

"Product must be:
     - Explicitly marketed as a Winter scent OR
     - Explicitly marketed for a holiday occuring between Winter Solstice and Vernal Equinox OR
     - Strictly feature pine, fir, or spruce. (Evergreens with dirt or lichen? Nope. No dirt allowed in the living room - only the tree!)
Caveat: Products explicitly marketed for multiple seasons or other seasons do not count (eg. ""a summer breeze through pine trees"")."

  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Vespers - Aftershave

  • Fragrance: Creed - Green Irish Tweed

  • Talc: Yardley Gold

Very nice shave today. Vespers is associated with a Christmas market in Germany (IIRC), but I always find it kind of refreshing and adaptable to any season. Anyway, clearly my red Red Hat hat was in order for today's shave.

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm G5 Synthetic
  • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1)
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (13)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Promises - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - The Night Before - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: House of Mammoth - Jitterbug - EdP

I got Promises recently for $5. This was the maiden shave for this particular tub. I had a sample prior to this and had no plans on buying it, but for $5 the scent is absolutely worth it. From the B&M website (taken from the aftershave page because the soap is sold out):

Winter is a special time in Upstate New York. Deer season opens, folks fire up their wood stoves, and the mountains become dusted with caps of glittering snow.

But, more exciting than any of those, the snowmobile trails open again. Promises is an ode to this most exhilarating time of the year, the smell of a warm drink from a thermos while out on the trail with friends. Notes of orange and bergamot are suffused with the warmth of real honey, whiskey lactone, peat, and nutmeg. To finish it off, we’ve incorporated the strange, rubbery, industrial character of a high grade saffron molecule to give the scent the feel of being out on the trail with idling sleds all around.

Promises is a slice of Northeastern wintertime. Let it snow!

This blade won't quit. Excellent shaves all around.

Christmas in July, but in June

  • Brush: Bite of Mammoth – Victor Hyggo
  • Razor: Henkotsu #KAMISORI #STR8SNOB
  • Lather: House of Mammoth – Santa Noir
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann – Dickens, Revisited
  • Fragrance: House of Mammoth – Santa Noir

Today I'm using HoM, which means that it's a great opportunity to buts out Victor Hyggo, the French philosopher Mammoth brush.

Theme: Santa Noir is so on theme that the logo wears a Santa hat. I doubt that it's physically possible to be more on theme.

Relevant post and frag, Dickens is also totally winter themed with the splash bottle art depicting a snowball fight and the soap art depicting a couple on a joy ride on a horse-drawn sleigh.

Challenge: The Kamisori form factor is my least practised type of open blade, so I thought it appropriate mitigate risks and protect myself by wearing a helmet for this shave. unfortunately there is no good way to keep lather from messing up the chin strap even when it's dangling. shaking fist angrily at clouds
