More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Dr Sam Gaines, dog welfare expert at the RSCPA, said her charity was opposed to "breed-specific legislation".

She said she would rather see a "clampdown on [...] owners who [...] have [their dogs] out of control, and just a general focus on encouraging responsible dog ownership".

I agree. I am at my wits end dealing with out-of-control dogs when I'm trying to enjoy the outdoors.

Banning specific dog breeds is a bandaid solution to the growing issue of irresponsible dog ownership.

I'm a little bit over 5 foot tall. If I see any unleashed large dog running towards me it always gets my adrenaline pumping as I prepare for the worst. It's happened to me before with a German Shepard. You just never know.

On the other hand, whenever you hear or see a headline of "(dog) attacked and maimed (someone)", the (dog) usually comes from a small select group of dog races. Or did you ever hear "Poodle killed baby"?

Yes, the main problem is the owners. But certain owners attract certain kinds of dog races, and it is not always a smart or healthy match.
