Take a walk on Belle Isle or the RiverWalk on one of our unseasonably warm winter days. Eastern Market is a must-see, too, even if you don’t want to buy any food.
Spot Lite is a great place for dance music. Jazz heads frequent Baker’s Keyboard Lounge (the world’s oldest operating jazz club, by some accounts), Motor City Wine for its many artists in residence, and Willis Show Bar. For some rock and punk, head to Hamtramck for the New Dodge Lounge, Small’s ...
... or The Sanctuary.
Senate Theater and Redford Theatre are always showing something interesting. Detroit Repertory Theatre and Detroit Public Theatre each started a new season of performances recently.
For some art, check out Dabls Mbad, Norwest Gallery, The Heidelberg Project, and any gallery on the Avenue of Fashion — the commercial district on Livernois Avenue south of 8 Mile Road. To learn some history, go to the Detroit Historical Museum (especially the “Detroit 67” exhibit, top floor) and The Wright.
If you’re into tabletop gaming, check if Opal Grove Games has a game night going on.
And for fun events, the news outlet I work for publishes a roundup of things to do every Thursday. I’m biased, but it’s super helpful.
