I get sent a lot of videos. I tend to view them in browser, without an account, and even use services like proxitok when possible.

The other day, I noticed tiktok refused to play videos in Firefox mobile. I switched to desktop mode and got the same result.

It seems like Meta rushed to copy their bullshit. They couldn't even create a proper pop-up. "Unknown error" keeps popping up a split second after hitting play.

I'm sick of these companies actively taking steps to make the internet more unusable.

That's weird. I just loaded up a tiktok and Instagram reel in Firefox mobile (private browsing) and they both played fine. I am not logged into Instagram on my browser and I don't have a tiktok account at all so it's not some cache thing

Maybe it's regional? A/B testing?

Also TIL I can't screenshot a private window (the page is just black)

It might be just me. Both just started happening to me within a couple of days, so I suspected outdated ublock lists, but they're up to date.

Clear cache and try again. Worked for me for a bit. Sadly they keep the enshitification going.
