Israel has accused Hezbollah of keeping hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold in a bunker under a hospital in the southern suburbs of Beirut, though it said it would not strike the complex.

The Sahel hospital in Dahiyeh was evacuated shortly afterwards, and Fadi Alame, its director, told Reuters that the allegations were untrue.

Israel did not provide evidence for its claim that cash was being kept under the hospital. Instead, it published an animated graphic that purported to show a bunker under the hospital and said it had previously been used to hide the former secretary general of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. Israel appealed to the Lebanese government to confiscate the money it said the Shia militant organisation had stolen from the Lebanese people.

Shortly after, Israel issued a series of warnings to residents of Dahiyeh that it would begin striking buildings in the area and that they should move at least 500 metres away. Those who remained in the area began to flee.

Hey, maybe it is true and they've been using this location as their central reserve equivalent. Announcing this is clearly intended for the locals, to encourage them to storm the place so Israel doesn't have to, regardless of whether it is true. Combined with their announcement that they won't target it, it seems like they're encouraging people to go there. But instead it was evacuated. If it is a safe spot with no gold, why would they evacuate it? Anyway, the mind games are interesting...

Why the fucking fuckery fuck would anyone keep gold and cash under a hospital rather than in a bank? Do these people even listen to what they are saying? How fucking stupid do they think everyone else is?

That's a really bizarre claim to make without any stated evidence. How would you even know that without having been in there yet? I presume this, much like ever other claim by the IDF (especially when they put out one of their terribly animated propaganda videos alongside it) that this claim is to give an excuse for future war crimes against the hospital?

Israel's people can sniff out cash like a bloodhound, apparently.

The claim is to be heard by Lebanese government and military and prompt them into action.

At today's spot price $100,000,000 of 24k gold weighs about 1140kg

... in case anyone was wondering

edit: huh. I was wondering if cash weighed more and the answer is no, if a $100 bill weighs 1g then $100,000,000 in $100 bills weighs 1000kg

Does anyone still actually believe this garbage?

At this point, even the people hopping into every thread to defend Israel's genocide must know they're full of shit

I actually had to do a double take and realize this was not an onion article.

S..sure, sure, we gotta take out this hospital because ub. uhm... its... got buried treasure!

What are we, 2 months away from 'this hospital had a nuclear bomb in it!'?

We found the Ark of the Covenant! Hezbollah is hiding it under an orphanage!

Spoiler: The ~~call~~ mushroom cloud was coming from ~~inside~~ outside the ~~house~~ hospital 😱

So a country literally called in a bomb threat on a hospital in another country. There are some words for this sort of behaviour that don't seem to be used in the article.
