I'd like to know what the removed comments said although I highly suspect that they were along the lines of saying something like this is a war crime blah blah blah. Yes I have seen Ukraine commit a few war crimes (mercy killings and such) but it pales in comparison to what the Armed forces of Russia have done. I'm too lazy to find a list but between beheadings, shooting down prisoners, torturing and shooting civilians, Mass graves....

Ukraine is fighting with it's hands tied while Russia is free to engage in any way it wants. Is this a "dirty" tactic? Yes but it's necessary against such an enemy.

Russians have stolen washing machines from civilians' homes, and now radios? As much as they deserve it, they should really work on manufacturing some basic electronics themselves. /s

I’m not fighting for my life or my country, so it’s hard to really argue, but I don’t love this. Imitating Israel isn’t a great look right now.

(If it’s true at all, of course)

Abandoning booby-trapped radios into an active war zone for uniformed enemy soldiers to pick up is not the same as infiltrating the supply chain to sell booby-trapped devices to "I hope these end up in the hands of people I don't like, but if civilians end up with them, oh well."

When the radios are passed over during this conflict, they'll still be dangerous in the following period where children will get them.

That's no kids toy btw, it's a fairly expensive Motorola radio for clarification.

Those were encrypted beepers that were sold directly to Hezbollah. It wasn't exactly a shotgun shot in a dark

While the attack may have targeted pagers used by Hezbollah, that doesn’t necessarily mean that those in possession of them were armed militants. “Hezbollah is obviously the fighting wing, but Hezbollah is [also] a political party, it’s a charity organization, it’s a civil societal movement as well,” says Krieg. “And so this pager system would have been distributed among civilians as well—people who are not fighters, who are not contributing to the war effort, and they were targeted as well.”

“Simultaneous targeting of thousands of individuals, whether civilians or members of armed groups, without knowledge as to who was in possession of the targeted devices, their location and their surroundings at the time of the attack, violates international human rights law and, to the extent applicable, international humanitarian law,” Volker Turk, the U.N.’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that those who ordered and carried out the attacks “must be held to account.”

So targeting a US Army truck driver would be bad in your eyes? He's not armed, basically a civilian.

Russia is poisoning water supplies to hurt innocent civilians while Ukraine is removing combatants from combat. Only argument needed

I don't think it is though. When Israel did this it was widely seen as a horrific war crime. Russia have committed uncountable crimes in this war, but Ukraine generally haven't and should endeavour to remain away from the line where it can.

There's a difference. Hezbollah absolutely is supporting Hamas who committed a terrorist act by attacking the music festival to get the world to watch, but Israel also did a "to whom it may concern" terrorist attack on innocents and military. On top of that, Israel has been foaming at the mouth to get the West Bank ever since they were handed Israel by the world leaders due to sympathy. Meanwhile, those same world leaders supported pushing Muslims out of Israel to Gaza and have been silent ever since. And that silence has allowed Israeli leaders to oppress Palestinians, uproot them from their homes, and violently squash protests. Now, thanks to Hamas, Israel has found their excuse to further push Muslims out of that region of the Med and even kill them for the claim of "there were a couple of terrorists there..." and is now going at Lebanon because they want their section of "holy land" back. Israel and Muslim conflict is completely different because this has been a burning desire since Muslims claimed Israel and held it. It's deep seeded hate. Plain and simple. And the war right now is what is made from hate.

And now Iran (which as a US veteran, I've never really been a fan of Iran due to their very strict border policies regardless of circumstance) is getting involved because their allies are getting bombed because they disapprove of Israel bombing Lebanon and more civilians for just this fractional section of land. Israel is the villian in this scenario

I agree with all of that. I don't see how it doesn't mean we should be okay with people we support computing war crimes.

BECAUSE UKRAINE IS TARGETTING COMBATANTS NOT CIVILIANS

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

I mean, so was Israel. I'm not going to judge if it's a war crime or not, though.

Says the invaders booby trapping children’s toys.
